WINEMAKER’S NOTES:

Syrah and Shiraz are synonymous, it is the same grape! The Syrah grape originates from France and the term Shiraz was coined in Australia. Like many synonyms grapes the name is becoming more reflective of the style of wine and not necessarily the geographical location (like Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio). We’ve produced wines that have more of a ‘Shiraz’ profile in the past – lots of big, jammy dark fruit. This year the style was much more in line with a Syrah – the fruit is still present just a little more refined, notes of baking spice. Both amazing styles of wine this has developed into a stellar Syrah – only a single 500L barrel was produced.
