90% Frontenac 2022, 10% Vidal 2022

A great expression of our terroir. Frontenac is the dominate grape with just a whisper of Vidal blended in. This adds a little acidity and helps round the big bold red. These were fermented separately and blended prior to bottling

TASTING NOTES: Aromas of blackberry and blueberry jam meet rich notes of toasted oak. The aromas carry to the palate with a bright acidity and a vanilla finish.

Beet and goat cheese salads, smoked meat sandwiches, eggplant parmesan, pizza or barbequed meats

Additional Info:

Frontenac was developed at the University of Minnesota. It is a French – American hybrid variety of Vitis Riparia x Landot Noir. It’s very disease resistant, cold tolerant and is a consistently heavy producer, with small, black berries in medium to large clusters. Frontenac’s deep garnet color complements its distinctive cherry aroma and inviting palate of blackberry, black currant, and plum. This versatile grape can be made into a variety of wine styles, including rosé, red, and port.

Winemaker’s Notes:

A great Field Blend Red! The majority is made up of Frontenac which fermented to a dark, full bodied wine. A little splash of Vidal was added to help lighten it up just a touch, this makes it more approachable and food friendly.
